Describing her work Sally says, "LUMINA started out as the outreach ministries of one local church in the inner-city of Lancaster. Since 1993, it has expanded to involve 78 churches in the Southwest District of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. LUMINA gets at the issues of poverty by strengthening and encouraging the local churches in and around Lancaster in their outreach efforts. Specific ministries of LUMINA include children ministries such as 'Kid's Night' (held at two different churches); two nutrition education programs called Super Cupboard and Power Packs; two clothing ministries; a professional clothing bank and a school uniform clothing bank for children; a ministry of support for teen parents, prison ministry and networking with social service agencies to encourage low-income people toward self-sufficiency."

A native of Michigan, Sally holds a B.A. degree in social work from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri.
